Sham Trek
Also known as the Apricot Valley Trek, Sham trek is a favorite trek for those who want to go for a relatively easy hiking trip that extends from 3 to 4 days.

Tour Itinerary
On arrival at Leh Airport, you will be received by our representative and commuted to your accommodation.
You are requested to take full day rest for High altitude acclimatization. Overnight stay in Leh.
Full day sightseeing of Leh, wherein we shall the famous Thiksey Monastery, famous for its 49 ft High statue of Maitreya Buddha, covering two storeys of the building. Later, we shall visit the Shey Gompa, Stok Palace and a 200 year old traditional Ladakhi house to get a glimpse of the local lifestyle and get to enjoy a cup of Butter tea, a ladakhi beverage.
Later, we shall visit the Hall of Fame built by Indian Army and Shanti Stupa (which provides panoramic views of the surrounding landscape). Overnight stay in Leh.
Early morning, we drive from Leh to the village of Likir, famous for the huge 9-storey high statue of Maitreya Buddha at Likir Monastery.
Start of Trek: Likir to Yangthang (~ 3-4 hours):
After the village cross over the Pobe-La. and trek pass the lonely village of Sumdo. Further along a valley and trek to reach Chartse La and then arrive at Yangthang. Stay with local family at Yangthang.
We leave Yangthang for a short and pleasant walk crossing a stream and passing via Tsermangchen La, 3750m and arriving in Hemis Shukpachan by afternoon. This village is popular throughout Ladakh for its aromatic Shukpa (Cedar) which is used as incense for religious purposes. Stay with local family at Hemis Shukpachan.
This part of the trail has been carved out from the ochre rocks into a balcony. We climb towards two passes at 4000m and arrive at Ang village near the river. After crossing the river, you can walk down to Temisgang, ancient capital of the Syham Kingdom, and its monastery. Stay with local family in Temisgang. End of Trek.
After breakfast, we get into our waiting SUVs and drive back to Leh. Enroute, we shall visit Lamayuru monastery, one of the oldest monasteries in the region. The Lunar like landscapes near Lamayuru village is also called as Moon Land. We also visit the popular Alchi monastery; famous for its 1000 AD Indian style Buddha paintings.
The journey takes us through the “Magnetic hill” that is located about 30 km from Leh, at a height of 14,000 feet above sea level. Here you can see the unusual phenomenon of your vehicle going upwards on its own at a speed with the engines off. Overnight stay in Leh.
After breakfast, we shall drive to Leh Airport for your onward journey to Delhi with memories of a Lifetime!
