Later, we shall visit the Hall of Fame built by Indian Army and Shanti Stupa (which provides panoramic views of the surrounding landscape). Overnight stay at Hotel in Leh.
After breakfast, we shall drive to Nubra Valley (approx. 4 hours) via Khardungla Pass (18380 feet) –the Highest Motorable Road in the World. You shall be checked into your accommodation at Hunder village.
We shall visit the famous White Sand dunes here. One can do ATV rides here or enjoy Camel Safari on the Double humped camels which are found only in Nubra in India. Overnight stay at Deluxe Camps/Hotel in Hunder village in Nubra valley.
After breakfast, we shall go for a Day excursion to Turtuk (approx. 1 ½ hours one way) located in Baltistan, near the Indo-Pakistan border. The border village, which forms part of the famed Silk Route used to belong to Pakistan, until it was recaptured by the Indian Army in 1971. Baltistan is culturally, linguistically and historically different from Ladakh though closely linked. The landscape here is different too, dramatically narrow valleys and close steep mountains, unlike Central Ladakh and Nubra.
The people in Turtuk are predominantly Balti Muslims who cultivate wheat, buckwheat, apricots and tomatoes in the fertile soil churned by the tributaries of the turbulent Shayok River. We shall explore the picturesque village. You can visit the Turtuk Old Mosque, the ruins of Pun Khar which is the Royal House of the Yabgo dynasty, K2 Peak’s view, Historic Polo Ground and Natural freezing point.
15th century Balti Heritage Home and Museum which is built in one of the narrow lanes of the Turtuk village. The Heritage Home contains the original Balti artifacts collection dating 400 years back.
We shall also visit Thang, India’s northernmost village of Thang which is located 10 km from Turtuk. Thang is the farthest point located near the Line of Control and borders are barely 2 km away from this point. The entry to this area is restricted and one needs to obtain a permit but on reaching this point you will be able to see the border fence which denotes the Line of Control. Later, we shall drive back to Hunder. Overnight stay at Deluxe Camps/Hotel in Hunder village in Nubra valley.
After breakfast, you shall drive to the beautiful crystal clear, color-changing high altitude lake, the Pangong lake (approx. 4 hours) located next to the China border via Shyok. This lake is one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. Overnight stay at Deluxe Camps/Cottages near lakeside.
