Tour Itinerary

On arrival at Srinagar Airport, you will be received by our representative and shall be commuted to your Campsite at Shetkari village located around 3 kms from the beautiful meadows of Sonamarg (approx. 2 ½ hours). You will be checked into your Tents on arrival for rest and refreshment.

Overnight stay at Shetkari.

Our trek starts from Shetkari village. From here, there is a steep ascent for around 3 hours along a well-defined trail up to the lush Shokdhari (Table Top) meadows from where from you can take in spectacular views of the Himalayan ranges including Thajiwas Glacier and Sonamarg in the valley below.

We shall continue our trek for around 2 ½ – 3 hours to reach Nichnai (Shepherds Valley), grazing ground, located an altitude of around 11800 ft. We shall set up our camps for the day here. Overnight Camping at Nichnai.

Today, we shall leave Nichnai and trek towards Vishansar Lake (Lake of Vishnu). We shall make a steep ascent over the Nichnai pass (13385 feet) and then make a gentle descent along meadows filled with beautiful flowers. We can also see a clear, lively waterfall, falling from the adjoining cliff and meeting the river below. 

A clear stream flows to our left along our path. We shall end our journey for the day at the beautiful Vishansar Lake (12000 ft). The Lake with its scenic beauty, snow covered mountains and their gorges filled with small glaciers and the meadows around, with alpine flowers is a major attraction for trekkers. One can do trout fishing in this lake with prior permits fromSrinagar. Overnight Camping near Vishansar Lakeside.

After breakfast, we shall begin our trek towards Gadsar Lake – known as the Botonist’s Paradise — via Kishansar Lake. The Kishansar lake (Lake of Krishna) lies just about ½ km away and approx. 500ft higher than Vishansar.

After a brief halt here, we shall continue our journey towards Gadsar pass (13750 ft) – the highest altitude during this trek. After a 1 hour climb, one can enjoy spectacular views of both the Twin Lakes of Vishansar and Kishansar Lakes together from here. The Gadsar pass,located at an altitude of 13,800ft is the Highest point on this trek.

As we descent from this point, we will come across a group of small lakes amidst the mountains. After 1 ½ hours, our trail leads us to meadows full of various kinds of wild alpine flowers.

After a walk of around 20 mins, we reach the beautiful Gadsar Lake (the lake of fishes) located at around 11,800ft. We shall halt here for sometime taking in the beauty of the place. GadsarLake is one of the best and prettiest lakes to view. The Lake is covered with flower beds on one side and snow covered mountains on the other side.

Later, we shall continue our trek for around 2 hours and shall process our permits at the Gadsar Army camp. We shall trek for some more time before setting up our camps amidst breathtaking views here. Overnight Camping at Gadsar.

Today, we shall leave Gadsar and trek towards Mangandub. We shall cross Rasbal meadowsand process our permits at Satsar Army camps before reaching the amazing Satsar Lake. TheSatsar Lake consists of Seven small alpine lakes connected with each other, set in a cascade formation.  After a brief halt, we shall continue our trek and reach the meadows of Mangandub (approx. 11500 ft) and shall set our camps here. Overnight Camping at Satsar.

After breakfast, we begin our trek towards the famous Gangabal Twin Lakes. A difficult ascent takes us to Zach pass (13500 ft). The unforgettable view from the pass however makes this hard climb worth it. From here, we can witness breathtaking views of the sacred HarmukhPeak (16,870 ft) with both the Twin Lakes of Gangabal and Nundkhol at its base. 

Later, we begin our descent down and reach the beautiful Nundkhol Lake(approx. 11500 ft).,at the foothills of the Harmukh peak. We shall set up our camps here. Overnight camping at Nundkhol Lake.

Day free at leisure. We shall visit the famous Gangabal Lake is located only 25 mins from here. One can enjoy trout fishing here after getting prior permits for the same at Srinagar. Overnight camping at Nundkhol Lake.

Today is the last day of our trek, wherein we shall descend 4000 ft to the village of Naranag, We shall cross a stream and trek on lush meadows lined by pine trees. Mid way, we shall reach Butsheri, where we shall have a brief halt nearby for tea/rest.

Later, we begin our descent for around 3 hours through thick pine forest before reaching the village of Naranag, located at an altitiude of approx. 7000 ft. Here, we shall visit the famous 8th century Naranag Temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. There is a small pond besides the temple clusters and it is believed to be as old as the temples.  END OF TREK.

We shall board our waiting SUV and shall drive to Srinagar (approx 1 ½ hours), where you will be checked into your Deluxe Houseboats on arrival. Overnight stay at Srinagar.

Today, we shall drive to Srinagar Airport for your onward journey with memories of a Lifetime!
