Tour Itinerary

On arrival at Guwahati Airport, we shall drive to drive to the famous Kaziranga National Park, the abode of one horned Rhino and a UNESCO World heritage site. Along with the iconic Greater one-horned rhinoceros, the park is the breeding ground of elephants, wild water buffalo, and swamp deer. Over the time, the tiger population has also increased in Kaziranga, and that’s the reason why Kaziranga was declared as Tiger Reserve in 2006. Also, the park is recognized as an Important Bird Area by BirdLife International for the conservation of avifaunal species. Birds like lesser white-fronted goose, ferruginous duck, Baer’s pochard duck and lesser adjutant, greater adjutant, black-necked stork, and Asian Openbill stork specially migrate from the Central Asia during the winter season.

Overnight in Kaziranga.

Early morning, we shall explore any one zone of Kaziranga National Park on back of Elephant (Optional).

In the afternoon, we shall enjoy Jeep Safari through the National Park. Later, we shall visit the Tea gardens nearby and  Kaziranga National Orchid And Biodiversity Park. You can also enjoy Assamese cuisine here.

Overnight stay at Kaziranga.

Early morning, we shall depart by car for Majuli. En-route, we shall cross the mighty Brahmaputra River by ferry.

Majuli is the largest river island in the world and India’s first island district. Spanning over an area of 1250 square kilometres, it situated at the heart of river Brahmaputra.

After lunch, we shall visit the Satras, the birthplace of Vaishnavite culture in Assam. These ‘Satras’ are centres of dance, art and culture. They also house old Assamese utensils, traditional weapons, manuscripts, jewellery, and handicrafts and offer an immersive experience into the culture of this State.   We shall also explore the unique Mask-making art of Majuli by experiencing it firsthand.

Overnight stay at Majuli.

Today, we shall pay a visit to a Mishing village.  Known for their textiles and Chang ghars (houses with raised platforms), the Mishing tribes are descendants from south-east Asia and have roots traced back to Abo Tani (believed to be the first men on earth) who hail from the Chinese and Mongolian communities.  

 

We shall also visit Salmora, the Potter’s village located in the southeast corner of Majuli Island where the oldest craft on the earth – handmade pottery and also the ancient barter trade system is still alive. 

If you are interested, we can also arrange a meeting with Padma Shri Jadav Payeng on the way (depending on his availability). Mr. Payeng a.k.a. “The Forest man of India” is famous for creating a forest of 1350 acres from a barren wasteland with his own hands. (The Boat charges for this visit needs to be paid directly)

Overnight stay at Majuli.

Early morning, we shall leave Majuli and head towards Shillong (4,900 ft.), the Capital of Meghalaya – also called ‘Scotland of the East”.   Evening free for rest.  Overnight stay at Shillong.

 

After early breakfast, we shall drive to Cherrapunjee also known as Sohra (4,400 ft.), the wettest place in the world. We shall stop by at Mawkdok Dympep Valley Viewpoint which is a wonderful vantage point located on Shillong – Cherrapunjee road.

Later, we shall explore the famous Seven Sister falls (also known as the Nohsngithiang Falls or Mawsmai Falls), Nohkalikai falls and Mawsmai Caves at Cherrapunjee.  Overnight stay at Cherrapunjee. 

Today, we shall visit Mawlynnong village (said as Cleanest village in Asia). Later, we shall hike down to the famous Living Root Bridge. A man-made wonder that is also an apt example of bio-engineering, Living Root Bridges are the result of innovation by the Khasi tribals. We shall also visit the Balancing Rock nearby.

Later, we shall drive to Dawki located near the Indo-Bangladesh border to experience experience the boating in crystal clear water of Umgnot River.  Visit Dawki Suspension bridge which was constructed in 1932 by the British.

Later, we shall drive to Shnongpdeng around 8 kms from Dawki. Shnongpdeng, known for its crystal-clear waters, offers several activities like kayaking, local boat ride, scuba diving, zip line and others. You can even have a close glimpse of the other side of Bangladesh from here. Overnight stay at Shnongpdeng/Dawki.

Today, we shall go for a full day sightseeing wherein we shall visit the beautiful Krang Suri WaterfallsNartiang Monoliths in the Jaintia Hills and Laitlium Canyons in the East Khasi Hills before driving back to Shillong.

Nestled in the serenity of Jaintia hills, Krang Suri falls is amongst one of the most scenic waterfalls of Meghalaya. The falls is blessed with shimmering blue waters and lush green picturesque surrounding. One can even enjoy a dip here.

The Nartiang Monoliths is one of the most fascinating megalithic sites in India. Located in the Jaintia hills of Meghalaya, roughly 60 kms from the state capital of Shillong, Nartiang village – literally called as ‘Garden of monoliths’ has the largest concentration of monoliths at one place in the state. The cluster of stone monoliths is believed to have been erected to mark the reigns of the erstwhile Jaintia Kings.

One of the most amazing and picturesque tourist destinations, perched atop the East Khasi Hills of Shillong is Laitlum Canyons, which in literal sense means “The End of Hills” or “The End of The World.  At Laitlum, all one can see are breathtaking gorges and steep winding stairways that snake their way down to the lush valley.

Later, we shall drive back to Shillong. Overnight stay at Shillong.

Morning, we shall visit Don Bosco Museum, Ward’s Lake and Lady Hydra Park.

Later, we shall drive to Guwahati in the state of Assam.  En route, we shall visit the Umium (Bara Paani) Lake, a majestic placid lake with its surrounding sylvan hills.

Overnight stay at Guwahati.

Today, we shall visit the renowned Maa Kamakhaya Temple. Sitting atop the Nilachal Hill, by the banks of the Brahmaputra river, the majestic Maa Kamakhya Temple is an iconic landmark in Guwahati and counted among the most sacred Shaktipeethas. 

We shall also visit the Balaji Temple. Sprawling over 2 acres, the temple is considered as the replica of the original Tirupati Balaji Temple.

Evening, we shall end the day with a Sunset river cruise along the mighty Brahmaputra River.

Overnight stay at Guwahati.
