Tour Itinerary

On arrival at Guwahati Airport, we shall drive to Shillong (4,900 ft.), the Capital of Meghalaya – also called ‘Scotland of the East”. 

En route, we shall visit the Umium Lake, a majestic placid lake with its surrounding sylvan hills. 

Overnight stay at Shillong.

After early breakfast, we shall drive to Cherrapunjee (4,400 ft.), the wettest place in the world. En route, we shall visit Shillong peak and Elephant Falls(if time permits). 

Shillong Peak (1962 m) is the highest point of Shillong and offers panoramic views of the city, the waterfalls, the Himalayas, the lush green surroundings as well as the Bangladesh plains. We shall stop by at Mawkdok Dympep Valley Viewpoint which is a wonderful vantage point located on Shillong – Cherrapunjee road.

We shall explore the famous Seven Sister falls, Nohkalikai falls and Mawsmai Caves at Cherrapunjee. 

Overnight stay at Cherrapunjee. 

Today, we shall visit Mawlynnong village (said as Cleanest village in Asia). Later, we shall hike down to the famous Living Root Bridge. A man-made wonder that is also an apt example of bio-engineering, Living Root Bridges are the result of innovation by the Khasi tribals. We shall also visit the Balancing Rock nearby.

 

Later, we shall drive to Dawki located near the Indo-Bangladesh border to experience experience the boating in crystal clear water of Umgnot River.  Overnight in Shillong.

Today, we shall leave Shillong and drive to the famous Kaziranga National Park, the abode of one horned Rhino and a UNESCO World heritage site. Along with the iconic Greater one-horned rhinoceros, the park is the breeding ground of elephants, wild water buffalo, and swamp deer. Over the time, the tiger population has also increased in Kaziranga, and that’s the reason why Kaziranga was declared as Tiger Reserve in 2006. Also, the park is recognized as an Important Bird Area by BirdLife International for the conservation of avifaunal species. Birds like lesser white-fronted goose, ferruginous duck, Baer’s pochard duck and lesser adjutant, greater adjutant, black-necked stork, and Asian Openbill stork specially migrate from the Central Asia during the winter season.

Enroute, we shall visit Don Bosco Museum which is one of the most Hi-tech museums in India and which showcases the rich indigenous culture of North Eastern states. Overnight in Kaziranga.

Early morning, we shall explore any one zone of Kaziranga National Park on back of Elephant (Optional).

In the afternoon, we shall enjoy Jeep Safari through the National Park. Later, we shall visit the Tea gardens nearby and  Kaziranga National Orchid And Biodiversity Park. You can also enjoy Assamese cuisine here.

Overnight stay at Kaziranga.

 

Today, we shall leave Kaziranga and head towards Dirang located in the state of Arunachal Pradesh. Enroute, we shall stop by the beautiful  Sangti Valley and Dirang Dzong Fort. Dirang Dzong fort is a representation of the culture of the Monpa Tribes. This fort, built in 1831 AD served as a centre of all the administrative activities of the Monpas during those times. Overnight stay at Dirang.

We start for Tawang today and en-route, stop at Nyukmadung war memorial and pay our respect to the fallen soldiers. Next, we stop at the mighty Sela Pass (13700 ft -4150 m) and Jaswant Garh War memorial, built in memory of the Soldier who laid down his life in Indo China War of 1962.

Then we stop for a small stroll by the lovely Sela lake if time permits and then start for our next stop, the Nuranang waterfall (also known as the Jang Waterfall). Overnight stay at Tawang.

We start our day by visiting the Tawang monastery which is the social, cultural and spiritual focal point of the entire valley. Perched on a hill, about 10,000 ft above sea level, Tawang Monastery is the largest monastery in India and second largest in the world after the Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet.

Later, we shall visit the Urgeling monastery – the birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama.

In the evening, we shall experience the light and sound show at the Tawang War Memorial. Overnight stay at Tawang.

After breakfast, we shall start our day with the breathtaking view of Sangetsar Lake  surrounded by snow- capped mountains and the valley offer a spectacular view. This lake is also known as the Madhuri lake after her film Koyla was shot here.

Later, we shall drive to the famous Bum La Pass about 37 kms away from Tawang located at the Indo-China border at 15,200 ft above sea level.

On the way back, we shall visit the beautiful Penga Teng Tso (also known as PT Tso Lake). Situated around 17 km far from the principle town in an open valley, the lake is encompassed by blue lapis blooms in summers, and a cover of snow in the winters

Overnight stay at Tawang.

Today, we shall leave Tawang and drive down to the town of Bomdila.

Later, we shall explore the place visiting Bomdila War Memorial & View point and Upper, Lower & Middle Gompas of Gontse Gaden Rabgyel Lling Monastery also known as GRL monastery.

Overnight stay at Bomdila.

Today, we shall leave early and drive to Guwahati in the state of Assam. As you leave the towering mountains behind and get off the Trans-Himalayan highway, the flat plains of Assam welcome you.  Overnight stay at Guwahati.

Today, we shall visit the renowned Maa Kamakhaya Temple. Sitting atop the Nilachal Hill, by the banks of the Brahmaputra river, the majestic Maa Kamakhya Temple is an iconic landmark in Guwahati and counted among the most sacred Shaktipeethas. 

We shall also visit the Balaji Temple. Sprawling over 2 acres, the temple is considered as the replica of the original Tirupati Balaji Temple.

Evening, we shall end the day with a Sunset river cruise along the mighty Brahmaputra River.

Overnight stay at Guwahati.

After breakfast, we drive to Guwahati Airport for our onward journey with memories of a Lifetime!
