Tour Itinerary
On arrival at New Jalpaiguri Rly station/ Bagdogra Airport, we shall drive to the hill town of Gangtok in Sikkim via Peshok Tea Gardens along the river Teesta( approx. 4-5 hours). Perched on the ridge of a hill at an altitude of 1700 mt, Gangtok is famous for its scenic beauty and spectacular views of Mt. Kanchenjunga, revered by the local populace as the Guardian Deity of Sikkim. Evening free at leisure. Overnight stay in Hotel in Gangtok.
After breakfast, we go for a sightseeing tour of Gangtok covering Ranka Monastery, Ban Jakri Falls, Do-Dul Chorten, Institute of Tibetology, Flower show, Ropeway and cottage industry. Evening free for personal activities & shopping. Overnight stay at Hotel in Gangtok.
After breakfast, we head to North Sikkim wherein we shall drive to the beautiful hamlet of Lachen (altitude 2,750 metres / Approx 6-7 hours). The town commands a panoramic view of the Himalayan mountains and is abundant in wildlife. Enroute,we shall visvikit Singhik View point, Seven Sisters Water Falls and Naga Water Falls. Stop on way for lunch. We end our journey at Lachen and check into our Hotel. Overnight stay at Lachen.
Early morning (approx. 5:30 am), we shall go for an excursion to the beautiful Gurudongmar Lake located near the Chinese border. The journey takes us through Thangu and Chopta valley. The road to Gurudongmar from Thangu passes through the high alpine pastures carpeted with thick rhododendron bushes. Located at an attitude of 16890 ft, the spectacular Gurudongmar Lake is one of the highest lakes in the world. The waters of this lake are said to have curative properties and is revered by both Hindus and Buddhists.
On way back, we shall visit Kalapatthar via Chopta Valley.
Later, we drive back to our accommodation for lunch. Post lunch, we drive to Lachung. Overnight stay at Lachung.
Early morning, we shall drive to Yumthang Valley (known as Valley of Flowers). Yumthang is a beautiful destination and is the summer grazing ground of the Yaks(1 ½ hours). In April/ May /June, the valley erupts in a riot of colours as Rhododendrons, Primulae and many other Alpine Flowers are in full bloom. A number of sacred Hot springs are scattered in the valley providing an unexpected opportunity to feel the warmth of the water even in freezing temperature. We shall continue our drive (approx. 1 ½ hours) to Yumesamdong (Zero Point), situated at an altitude of 15500 feet. Overnight stay at Lachung.
After breakfast, we shall drive back to Gangtok (approx. 6 hours). Evening free for rest. Overnight at Hotel in Gangtok.
After breakfast, we go on an excursion trip to Tsomgo Lake/Changu Lake (approx. 2 ½ hours). The tranquil water of this beautiful lake harmonizes with the picturesque scenery around.We shall also visit Baba Mandir, built in the honor of an Indian Army soldier, Captain ‘Baba’ Harbhajan Singh . If weather permits, we shall visit Nathula Pass, located near the Indo-China border. Nathula was once an offshoot of ancient silk route connecting Lhasa in Tibet to plains of Bengal. But the pass was closed after the war between India and China in 1962 and was reopened only in 2006. Later, we drive back to our hotel. Overnight stay at Hotel in Gangtok.
After breakfast, drive to New Jalpaiguri Rly station/ Bagdogra Airport (Approx. 4-5 hours) for your onward journey with memories of a lifetime!
