Tour Itinerary

On arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be received by our representative and commuted to Thimphu, the Capital of Bhutan (approx one hour drive), where you will be checked into your hotel on arrival. 

Evening, you can visit the Thimphu Centenary Farmers Weekend Market. This place gives you a glimpse of everyday Bhutan and is popular among tourists. Nearby, across a cantilever footbridge, Kuendeyling Bazaam, to the west bank is a collection of stalls selling clothing, textiles and handicrafts.  Overnight stay at Thimphu. After breakfast, we go for a full day sightseeing tour of Thimphu where we shall visit the impressive Tashichho Dzong,  Motithang Takin Preserve, BBS Tower (that offers a wonderful view of Thimphu valley), The Memorial Chorten(a stupa dedicated to world peace and prosperity in 1974 in memory of the Third King of Bhutan) , The School of Arts & Crafts and the magnificent statue of Buddha Dordenma built on a hillslope 100 metres above Wangchu River overlooking Thimphu capital city.  Overnight stay at Thimphu.

Today, Get Permits for Punakha.  Later, we drive to Punakha (Approx 3 hours) through some of the Kingdom’s richest agricultural land and most dramatic river valleys.  

The first stop after leaving Thimphu on the journey east is Dochu La pass around 3100 m high and way above the clouds.  Only an hour’s drive from Thimphu, it offers visitors their first glimpse of the Eastern Himalayan range. From the pass the road curls its way down into the relative lowlands of the Punakha Valley. Before Thimphu was made the permanent capital of Bhutan, Punakha was the Winter Capital because of its more temperate climate.

Today, we shall visit the beautiful Punakha Dzong(known as the  “the palace of great happiness”),located at the confluence of the Pho Chhu (father) and Mo Chhu (mother) rivers in the Punakha–Wangdue valley and Punakha Suspension Bridge.  We shall also hike to the Chimi Lhakhang monastery. 

If interested, you can hike to Khansum Yulley Namgyal Chorten(approx. 40 mins one way). The route is beautiful and takes you via Rice terrace fields. One can enjoy 360 degrees views of Punakha Valley from the top. Overnight stay at Punakha.

Today, we proceed towards Paro (Approx. 4 hours) wherein, you will be checked into your Hotel on arrival.

Later, we shall visit the famous Paro Dzong. We shall also visit the National Museum of Bhutan, a major attraction that has in its possession over 3,000 works of Bhutanese art, covering more than 1,500 years of Bhutan’s cultural heritage.

Later, we shall visit the revered Kyichu Lhakhang Temple, one of Bhutan’s oldest monastries built in the seventh century.   There is a belief that the two orange trees in the courtyard of Kyichu Lhakhang bear fruit throughout the year. Evening free to visit local markets. Overnight stay at Paro. 

Early morning, we shall for a local sightseeing tour of Paro, wherein we shall visit the famous Taktsang Monastery, also known as the ‘Tiger’s Nest’, located on a high cliff towards the north of Paro town. One can hike/take a pony ride (around 2 -3 hours) uphill to the monastery to capture the spectacular views. Overnight stay at Paro.

After breakfast, we shall drive to Paro International Airport for your onward journey with memories of a lifetime!
